The Continental Army was created after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War by a resolution of the Continental Congress on June 14th, 1775 that answered the desperate need of raising a full military force to fight against the British Army.

In the beginning, the Thirteen Colonies didn’t have an army and had to rely on Militias. Also, the first continental army suffered hard the lack of supplies and trained officers. In spite of this, they grew in confidence and efficiency as the conflict developed and became quite an effective army in the best tradition of the European standards.

Our bust depicts a standard-bearer for the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment, but it can be painted in a big array of combinations depending on the regiment of choice. Also included is an alternative head with a mitre cap.
