The Vikings were a Northern European folk of Germanic origin that lived in the area that today is Scandinavia. Raiders and traders, their highly developed seafaring skills allowed them to navigate all the seas and main rivers of Western Europe, influencing greatly the destiny of several nations like Great Britain or France in what became known as “The Viking Era”.
They first entered into the main focus of European history at the late VIII century and the period in which they traveled, traded, and pillaged lasted until the XI century, when the incipient birth of the Scandinavian nations, Christian conversion, and assimilation in the mainstream European culture, ended with their old way of life.
Our miniature portrays a Viking warrior from the “golden” period of the Viking Age. He is well equipped with a spear, sword, and shield, along with some javelins.
