The Continental Army was created after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War by a resolution of the Continental Congress at June 14th, 1775 that answered the desperate need of raising a full military force to fight against the British Army.

At the beginning, the Thirteen Colonies didn’t have an army and had to rely on Militias. Also, the first continental army suffered hard the lack of supplies and trained officers. In spite of this, they grew in confidence and efficiency as the conflict developed and became quite an effective army in the best tradition of the European standards.

Our bust depicts a generic Continental Infantryman that can be painted in a big array of combinations depending on the regiment of choice. For this version, we have chosen the 1st Maryland regiment that sports the combination of blue uniform with red facings that was assigned to these troops.
